Sunflowers
38cm x 56cm = 22.5” x 15”
On Arches 300gsm Medium. The Olive-backed or Yellow-bellied Sunbirds are frequently seen in Queensland gardens. The pair will create a home together, with an overhanging roof, cosy feather and spider webbed lining, and a swinging pendulum for balance; as a newly wedded couple will build and furnish their home together ready for the next stage of their lives. Nectar eaters they will also take small insects, the lady of the house doing most of the feeding of their youngsters. With the colours of the sun, flitting about the flowers like hummingbirds these tiny foragers seem to have encompassed the partnership of marriage we would do well to emulate.
